Local author Lauren Flake, #texasstrong blogger at For the Love of Dixie, will do a reading and signing of her debut children’s book, ”Where Did My Sweet Grandma Go?: A Preschooler’s Guide to Losing a Loved One.” Lauren wrote the book for her two young daughters after she lost her mother and co-illustrator, Dixie Benton Stucky, to early onset Alzheimer’s disease.Īmelia and Lauren will be available for a brief Q&A following their presentations. It is a great class to take prior to attending a caregiver support group and provides a good base of disease knowledge. Disease information, diagnosis and treatment, risk and prevention and coping are some of the topics shared. This class is intended for anyone wanting to learn about Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. The world was seemingly closing in on everyone, social injustice was high.
